We enjoyed a few weeks back in the States in December and were pleased to see as many of our friends and family as we could. We were sad we didn't get to see everyone we wanted to, but we will be back eventually and we look forward to seeing everyone then. During our visit, we had an unfortunate family experience and wanted to send our special blessings and prayers to Ann's cousins and family for a very dear member of the family passed away after his battle with cancer. He will be missed.
When we were getting on our plane early Christmas morning to continue our adventure, we discussed how blessed and thankful we are for our health and this wonderful travel opportunity together and then we quickly turned our conversation what seemed to be our theme of our trip back to the states - it was food, yummy comfort food. We ate a lot of food. I guess we missed food more than we thought especially pizza, potatoes, beer... We started as soon as we landed in Charlotte and enjoyed veggie pita sandwiches and veggie chili baked potatoes from McAllisters, followed by pizza from Mellow Mushroom, southern comfort food from Tupelo Honey Cafe, good sandwiches from Angry Ale's and beautiful greek food at Ilos Noche. Everything was delicious! In Boston, Taylor enjoyed some favorite french fries at Saus and more yummy greek food at Steve's. Our quick stop in NYC was filled with a delicious birthday vegan meal for Ann at Candle 79, a special treat of cronuts from Dominque Ansel (which we stood in line for an hour and a half beginning at 6:30am) and the best bagels ever from Brooklyn Bagels. During our upstate Pennsylvania visit to Ann's home town, we enjoyed the friendly breweries of Old Forge Brewery Company, Turkey Hill Brewing Company, Marley's Brewery & Grille and also Siam, a yummy spicy Thai restaurant, before traveling to Philadelphia where Taylor enjoyed excellent food from two of her favorite cooks, her sister and grandmom. Although we were only in the states a few weeks I guess we realized we missed a few more things than we thought. Here is just a short list from each of us:
